whats the best engine transplant for l series?
hey was wordering what would be the best engine converson for my l series i was considering an ej22 but i was just reading that if you increase your capacity by %20 you have to have upgrade your brakes to get it engineered in nsw any info will help heaps.

no more 91 l series, no more liberty sedan , 92 l series this time i will do all the mods i wated to do with my last l series, lift , wheels ,kings, roof basket, snrokel
Not sure exactly what the rules are in NSW, but I think there's more to it than 20% capacity increase. Have a look at http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... _ncop.aspx or your RTA.
If you can't do an EJ22, there's always the option of an EJ20 out of a Forester or Impreza (with or without turbo), or an EJ18 from an early Impreza. The EJ18 is easily within +20% capacity, +20% engine weight, and +20% power of an MPFI EA82. You might even be able to convince them that it you've just dropped in the fuel injected version of the original engine, which was a factory option.

What ive seen before the best engine for the L-Series transplant suggestions would be a EJ22. A while back someone was selling on ebay a half tunned L-Series job that wasnt finished yet. The engine that Leone had was a 2.0L turbo from a 2005 Impreza STi, now that car would fly. Too accomidate into the engine bay the intercooler had to be mounted from its horizontal position over the engine to a forward position, think it was selling for something like 5k while back.
