swapping MY L strut cartridges ??

Post by steptoe » Fri Apr 13, 2012 8:35 pm

Never actually done or looked at swapping front strut cartridges of MY or L Series - as in re-using the lower section that bolts to the front knuckle, unscrewing the lock ring that holds cartridge in this section.

If you have done it and can give any tips on tools, special tools etc.

looks like only 82 - 83 MY had rebuildable with seals from Fuji or replaceable front strut inserts, the rest are sealed and must replace whole thing , so my 84 Brumby may not be able to use them either :( . Guess that is what Tim82 drove - an 82 MY , got them off him

Aren't these a pressed in insert?

the new genuine struts came with a label describing as 84 - 92 +83 4WD fr strut left - right and they are sealed pressed in non reco able, also continues to suggest +83 can be used to replace their reco able strut.

I need a pair of front struts from an 82/83 4WD that are tired but not damaged so I can make use of my gas inserts - got a pair PM me please .....
