Yeah this is an interesting one. I'm 99% sure that over here you're allowed to have one of these mounted on the front bar off to one side so long as you're carrying a fishing rod, if you're not carrying a fishing rod it becomes a pedestrian hazard or something stupid... I'm surprised they're not fining us just for turning the key to start the car (or pushing a button for those too stupidly rich to turn a key).

I'd definitely be putting that to the left hand side of the car, right if you're standing in front looking at it! I reckon Paul just got a tight arsed cop that needed to make his quota for the week...

I did originally have it to the left but because of the angle of the bends on the bullbar the rod holder sits on an angle and with rods in it they hang over the drivers side of the car and go past the car by heaps, i didn't really want someone overtaking me and snapping my rod in half, the cops here are really easy going, ive seen quite a few people with them the most i would get is a warning to take them off, ive never had a fine or accident in my life *knocks on wood*

The way around this would be a piece of flat bar to strap to the bullbar, then bolt the other end to the rod holder. You might need to drill a new hole in the holder for the new angle of the bull bar on the passenger's side. The driver's side is the side with the flat strap holding it...

Is 3" too much lift? I have 2" blocks in my ob and biggest tires i can fit soon. Also thinking of getting raised kings. But is it too much or is it perfect?

I want more:P
The tyres i have are 215/70/r16, and they are the biggest you could possibly fit under there, they still scrub the guard slightly when i plant the accelarator.
Apart from the rear end being pretty harsh over speedbumps its great.

They should be made illegal, I did have them on my car once upon a time until dad showed me pics of what the rod holders did to a cyclist.
It won't be long until the cops pull you up for it. Imho not worth the risk for a yellow sticker

Yeah same colour. Only thing is my rims are the slightly different ones and my bullbar is colour coded with chrome tubing.

Traction control is a PITA, have to put a fuse in it before i go on the beach.
Finally went on the beach today for the first time with my mates in their patrols, car loved it, driving on soft sand is so much easier then i thought it was gonna be.
Heres why you don't drive a patrol, one of the signal wires leading to his dizzy "slipped" off after hitting a pothole:P

You need to have a look at the RTA site on having sharp parts on bull bars.

Good find, seems the RTA are on to it, those bulletins look like they are more focused at RTA inspectors and engineers, i pass at least 5 cars a day here with rod holders installed like mine in the same manner, until the police pull me up for it im gonna leave it as is.

Yeh i have VDC, its a pain if you start spinning wheels it hits the brakes for you, under the bonnet in the fuse box there is a fuse with no fuse in it marked VDC OFF FWD, putting a fuse in it turns VDC off, the revision models have a switch on the dash to turn it off:(
