There are two types of EA81 fuel pumps I believe. My early one thats mounted in the engine bay, I wouldnt think would be suitable because its fuel on demand that regulates by back pressure cut out. So if the surge tank is not closed (or regulated by eg a needle and seat as in a carby - original set up), it would run continuously (read noisey) it wouldnt be rated for continuous duty cycle.BaronVonChickenPants wrote:This is one of the common ways of doing the EJ conversion, the EA81 pump feeds the surge tank, a high pressure EFI pump goes between the surge tank and engine and the return lin from the engine comes back to the surge tank.
Apparently the EA81 pump has no problem with this setup.
Jordan.
The later model one thats '84 I think is located under near the tank might be suitable, or may suffer from the same prob. Someone else like Fred - Sub may be able to shed some light on that one.
