WRX Radiator - difference in GDA/GDB

Post by Russ » Sun May 04, 2008 3:26 pm

Hi,

A mate has recently bought a 2001 "bug-eye" WRX...which AFAIK is classed as a GDA - GD being bug-eye and A meaning WRX.
After one week of relatively little driving (he broke his arm after running into a tree on his dirt bike the day before he picked it up, thus cannot drive it himself), it has blown a top radiator tank. It's got small cracks around there the top hose joins on, and between that hose and the plastic lug where the thermo fan bolts on. So it would appear he will need a new radiator - repairing it does not seem worth it at this stage - i imagine a new side tank fitted would be a couple hundred bucks.

We haed a look online at JustJap and found a decent looking unit, all alloy with no plastic side tanks - see link below. This radiator is listed as for a GDB thou, just wondering if anyone know if this will fit? Whats the difference between the two? I did notice the alloy one has a radiator cap in the side/top tank, the current factory one does not - i cannot see why this would matter?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot the link :D
