L series knock front end

Post by rcs66 » Wed Mar 12, 2008 8:12 pm

I have a rattle/knock in the front end of my 93 L series wagon.4X4 CV sharfts have not long been replaced. When I take my foot off the fast pedal there is a loud rattle/knocking in the front end. I have jacked the car up and all seems to nice and tight. Now I seem to have a scraping sound at low speed from the left back wheel at low speed.
Last of all how much fuel should I be using. Have 200,000 on the clock
Thanks

check all the bolts at the front end - like radius rod ones. they may look tight but actually be loose when under the weight of the car. check engine bay also for loose stuff

Check your rear hub nut as the tapered washer wears out and doesnt hold the hub tight. Or youcould have a wheel bearing on its way out or a rear brake shoe wearing or worn out.

I have a similar knock coming from the front end. I reckon a suspension bush somewhere is stuffed. happens every time i switch from acceleration to engine braking

seeing as though you said the cv's have been replaced recently definately check the castle nut on the hub. Could have loosened off abit.
