28 inch tyre on a 7 inch rim has been done and is quite a good fit. It does require some hammer welding. Some people will tell you that they have had a 29 inch tyre in there but they are full of shit. I have 29's on my car now and there is now way they would fit in that wheel well with out lots of work. Any taller than 28 and you will be looking at doing extensive panel mods along with strut mods.

That'd be 215/75/15 on a 15x7 inch rim.

What about if you let the tire down and carry a pump?

I know with the BFGs I've had the sidewalls are so stiff that airing down doesn't make a huge difference. With other tires it might be different.

i think brett was talking about fitting them to the rear of your car.

if you mean what sized spare tyres can you fit in spare tyre well, you cant get much bigger than a stock 24" tyre in there.

My spare tyre well is full of tools, spares and recovery gear. I jsut throw the spare in the back of teh wagon when im heading anywhere out of the way. Dont bother carrying one commuting to work every day

I have the 15x7s with the 215R 15s on them that Brett is on about and they fit "just" i had to do some massaging of the metal to make them fit without continual rubbing. As for the spare size it pretty much not that bigger than stock unless you want to have it in there deflated but they type of tyre would be the deciding factor, anything with stiff sidewall and as muddy says it wont make much difference

if you look at the subject, and not the post, you'll see his talking about the rear wheel wells. There at the back of the car. And since subie put there spare tyres in the front....

I dunno about the L's, but MY can take 27"s just fine... Sorry I couldn't help more.

Oh one other thing. Doesn't it say no swearing in the forum rules brett? Or do I need to re-read them?

never mind phizinza. he's irritating to say the least. hes always posting verbal diahorrea in topics that don't relate to him, or anything he knows about. Im sure everyone knew that you were referring to a liberty, as your other posts to refer to it.

I have a 91 Liberty wagon and I used to fit my 27x8.5R 14 Inch Super Tripper in the spare wheel hole(defalted). It did used to make the lid or cover sit up slightly though and it pays to give the tyre a good coating of Armor All or something similar to help it slide in better as it is a tight fit.
Cheers
