CLUB DISCOUNTS on parts??
Once upon a time when car clubs were small and local things they were offered discounted prices on parts by various dealers and part suppliers. That does not sem to apply now in here on a forum style club. I get trade prices myself on all me bits coz i am business co-ordinator for a mechanical workshop (in my spare time), BUT i feel for you guys getting quoted/charged full retail for some items.
Surely as a member of this forum we do have quite some buying power and should be able to get some good deals with big and small parts supply businesses. It'd be nice to support your small local guys parts business in exchange for trade or club prices, rather than the big ones.
I have one avenue I will try whch is Oz wide and wide reaching, it is only a thought and may be not on but i'll give it one go with a fella called Joe

Nothing like action. I've rung Joe to find he is on holidays and spoke to the lovely sounding Lisa. I have emailed a proposal for an idea to see if it fits into their business charter / mission statement. If it sounds workable and the owners/regulators/powers-that-be of this website/forum are interested I'll let them take it from there.
What are your thoughts as members on this idea ?

If you join the Qld 4WD Subaru club they offer some really good discounts and stores around the SE of Queensland. However this does not make too much sense if you are in another State cept maybe for living in northern NSW.
If every car forum offered club like or better discounts to every forum user it would abuse a system set up to help out enthusiast who are really making they system work

id have to agree with SWK here
seems pointless to just join a forum and be able to go places and recieve a discount..i may be a bit bias as i get trade prices thru my work...but still i get where hes coming from.
the best thing to do is to shop around
like on Friday searching for wheel bearings. Repco and Coventrys were over 80 each (dont even know if it was a kit) but then me and Subafury found out that a bearing place (Statewide bearings or something) were less than 50 for a kit includign seals in it
saved himself over 60 bucks which is a damn lot
