EA82T realistic redline ?
Trying to calculate right size LPG gear for turbo EA82, redline RPM and horsepower comes into play.
What is a realistic max revs anybody ?
The FSM quotes a power measure called PS of 113 for Oz and 136 for elsewhere
dunno which one mine is, need to see camshafts marking
What the ...? is PS ??
just found it in one shot at google. It is short for PS, which is short for Pferdestarke, which is German for horsepower
( 4 years of German classes and I never struck the word for horse !)
113 PS = 111 HP = 83kW
136PS = 100kW

Redline will be just before the engine flies apart
Realisticly, you shouldnt need to rev the engine any higher than where the engine makes maximum power, so that is around 5200 rpm. There is no gain to be had from revving higher than this.
Im not sure when the rev limiter kicks in

MPFI and MPFI turbo apparently have different cams. the turbo ones open sooner or hold the valve open longer to get as much in the cylinder as possible... something like that, i haven't looked into it though.timmo wrote:so whats the differences in camshafts???? this is interesting
This is one of the questions i have about turbo'n a standard MPFI on low boost, leave the cams or change them? If they were to be changed, wouldn't this confuse the standard MPFI ECU? I've heard that the MPFI ECU can handle a turbo so long as you keep an eye on the fuel air mixture or something like that. True or false? Discopotato, i know little about turbos other than they ram air and fuel into the cylinder through a turbine spun on exhaust gases, i'm sure you'd beable to elaborate better on this... Someone would anyway...
Cheers
nahh i mean physical differences between the two typers of turbo camshaft. ie I have some jap spec cams, would it be so simple that if i put these cams in my aus spec engine it would deliver more power???
