vibration dampers - aftermarket ??

by vibration dampers I am refering to those lumps of cast iron found attached to metal brackets under Foulcans and Coomadores around the gearbox crossmember and even on exhaust atilpipes on 'Cruisers.

has anyone tried to fit these to a subie to reduce NoiseVibrationHarshness and had any noticeable effect - other than reduced clearance
