EA82T High rev miss

Post by wrx_nut » Sun Oct 01, 2006 8:23 pm

my ea82t has just started to play up...
when i give it a boot full...around 4500 - 5000 rpm (fairly full throttle) it cuts out for a second or 2 and jerks like the fuel completly cuts out (but very quickly)

if you back right off it runs normal.. if u keep your foot down after it jerks it goes fine

any suggestions? fuel filter? vaccume? timing?

cheers

I'd bet its spark and/or dizy cap. and bet it does free rev ok over that range too? been there.
i think fuel filter would give crapy running/boost throughout the rev range not just at a particular rpm.

Check that the vac line to the top of the fuel regulator is ok. Under boost the regulator (rising rate) might not be compensating for boost conditions.

also try closing the plug gap up a little, i had mine at 1.1mm like the manual says and have had this problem so i closed it back up to .9mm and it is fine, this is aparently a problem as soon as you crank up the boost and it will get detonation before it makes the plug causing this jerk.

Sounds almost like the problem I had. Turned out to be the fuelfilterS.

Generally when EA82 NA and turbos start to break down at high revs it will be one of the long spark plug leads. check it out by misting some water over it and starting it in the dark.
