Damn redline adapters!!

Post by TW83 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 10:35 pm

Spent the weekend helping a mate with a weber conversion to his ea82 wagon. Did it to mine a year ago with a redline adapter, worked after retapping the manifold but i still thought it was the wrong one. Anway we went and bought another one for his car but it was a different part number because the salesman was "deadset certain" it was the right one .
What should have been a few hour job turned into a drive back to bunbury to get some help from daddy and his friend die grinder, tapping kit etc. We ended up making one ourselves.

An adapter should adapt... right? It would be more useful if the they just sold a block of ali.

My mate reckons he will sell the redline one on ebay as "Universal Carburetter Adapter- metal working skills may be helpful".

Anway dont waste your money on them, make your own!!!!

Yeah there is some problems with getting the right one for the old subarus... we found the listed part only suited the smaller EA81 manifold and the one we ended up getting, that did bolt on with minamal mods, was not listed for a Subaru but the bolt measurements were correct. It's true if you have the skills making one yourself would probably be faster.

I had the same problem. The one I got was suitable for Gemini as well? Had to smack the manifold water pipe down and do a bit of grinding. It certainly is no glove when they go on.
