Info on Targa Brumby's

Does anyone know the history of Targa Brumby's, such as rarity, numbers produced, availability in other markets, etc.

Were they intended as a sports model, or was the targa an optional extra.

Any links would also be good.

My brother has a "89 one, dont know all years they come out, but they are not that uncommon secondhand. I think they were just offered as an alternative model. Sport appeal? Does have a better interior, but dont know how that differs to models of that year.
