NA EA82 motor into RX Turbo
NA EA82 motor into RX Turbo
Hopefully this is a simple problem...
Car is a 1986 RX Turbo.
It's had a non-turbo 1990 MPFI motor dropped into it.
The motor starts and runs but very badly, I'm certain that the distributer setup is the cause...
Which distributer should I use? The one from the original turbo motor or the one from the NA motor? Does anybody know the correct configuration of which spark plug lead goes where in this scenario?
Thanks in advance, a.

cool thanks for the info, but how do I tell where they plug into the dizzy, it doesn't have any numbers printed next to any of the lead sockets...

Andrew the dizzy does matter. Some have more wires coming out of them then others you will need to run the original 1.

ooh .. i should know this ... for some reason i remember how to make fireballs come out the carby but not how to make it run right.
My ea82 has a different firing order to jaffs ea82t and it has a different dizzy to my old (actually newer) ea82, which had a different set of wires coming out of the bottom so i couldnt see how to make it work.

This one has had the EA82turbo dizzy swapped onto it. To make it even more complicated this dizzy has had an external Bosche module wired into it which does something.
I need to put the original NA dizzy back on methinks.

Oh yeah Jaffa sorry I misunderstood you, you meant the original dizzy from the car not the original from the NA motor

Andrew, good to hear she is going.
I do remember when seeing that car, it originally had the 3 plug ECU turbo engine - so that had the vacuum push/pull distributer.
The N/A engine has a 4 plug N/A ECU - with crank angle distributer ECU controlled, and should have hotwire AFM, not flapper.
It seemed to have a miss match of various parts etc. This may effect overall tuning due to incorrect values to ECU????

Good to hear that she firing - see mattims its just the carb why we got fire balls (I'll never forget that) LOL

and then you get fire balls LOL i htink that we should cut a hole in the bonet and insted of a scoop it could just be an outlet for the fireaballs to appear through. LOLmattims wrote:at revs say 4000rpm in neutral if you floor it it will cough from too much fuel.
I am thinking that we can get rid of the issue with the next engine.

Yes it runs but not too well just yet. Dead smooth idle but dies abit when you punch the accellerator. It is the vacuum operated dizzy with a vacuum line hanging off it and nowhere to plug it in :/
