Checking oil pressure

Post by Fatz » Sun Aug 06, 2006 2:52 pm

Hey all, i just replaced my oil pump seals to try and kill the TOD, now when my car runs, the tapping is even louder than ever, and starts sounding like the engine is about to seize and then stalls after bout 30 secs.
Is there anything on the oil pump that i could have bumped or moved that could cause it to stop working?
I need this car going for work tomorrow:( What diagnostics can i perform to try and nut this out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thankyou.

I think you put the oil pump rotor back in the wrong way.....very easy to do.
did you replace the cam seal too?

can anyone tell me how to correctly put the inner rotor together with the outer roter?
i placed outer rotor "B" facing me and tried to out the "b" tooth on the inner rotor on one of the sides of outer "B".
Was that incorrect?
I really need this car going:(:(
any help guys will be much appreciated.

I had put it in the wrong way too...one should pay attention to how/orientation of what is removed:(
Yes reading the various gregories,et al..you don't suspect there is
a particular orientation, and both side look the same if you don't look
very carefully.
I hand rotated the engine and guessed something was amiss -
so damn, re do the job.
and sorry I can't remember to positively tell you which way now...obviously different to what you have already done.

So with you running it like that, what does it do, damaged the pump?

get new rotors from subaru dealer...$70? or so....

You have the cam belt installed correctly and it is running around the outside of the wheel? Is the pump sitting back on there flush to the block? Did you use silicon to seal it with? With the pump out of the block do the gears rotate?
