bigger tyres, cut fendors

Post by cooky2511 » Thu Jul 27, 2006 4:07 pm

I want to fit 27 inch tyres to my 3inch lifted l series wagon but i can seem to get full lock when i turn because the tyres are too big. So i need to cut the fendors or inner guard. Has anyone done this before? if so could you post pictures and how they did it. Cheers.

Hi cooky2511,
new member ? Welcome to this forum,

http://www.ausubaru.com.au/showthread.php?t=321
hope this answers some of your questions.

One thing about this vBulletin forum is you really must learn to use the search features to find posts like that because by default you only see 1 month of posts under each forum title.

Ahh! I think search doesn't even work! ....tried search of word "fender" - nothin, zilch....

moderators...Stinky? whats the go?

If you want "fenders" maybe you should search USMB instead? We call them guards here in Australia.

Ok, to answer your question . . . where exactly are your tires rubbing? You can usually get away with cutting out the lower lip on the guard close to the firewall. Also the lowest 200mm of the folded seam that follows the firewall has to go. At the front you can trim as much as you want!
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

thanks for that. I am knew to the forums so i didnt know about the archive. I tried doing the search thing but got nothing. I saw the USMB site and they called them fendors so i just called them that as well( im in australia). I found the perfect thing in the archives for my "GUARDS" hehe. Cheers.
