White corrosion in disty cap only 2000km old

Post by Bobbrumby » Sat Oct 29, 2005 1:13 pm

Well as the title says i changed my cap and rotor on my ea81 about 2000km ago but did not do the ignition leads. Today i finally got round to doing the leads and In one of the cylinder's connector, on the cap, i found white corosion all over the contact. Also on a different cyclinder i found corrosion at the contact on the spark plug. I wet and dried most of the corrosion off before thowing in the new wires. BTW: spark plugs are just a little bit older than cap + rotor.

Could this be caused by dodgy ignition leads or something more sinister?

Yeh there also this corosion where the rotor makes contact with 4 lugs coming down from cap, is this normal?
