Makeshift Air/fuel meter (rough)

Post by Gannon » Sun Jun 18, 2006 8:12 am

After reading that article about how oxygen sensors work
http://www.ngksparkplugs.ca/tech_osinstall.cfm

I was thinking that if i took the output of the o2 sensor and used it to drive a led (light emiting doide), prolly need a small op amp in there as the output from an o2 sensor is only 1v. It would give me a rough idea of my fuel ratio.
Led on - Rich A/F,... Led off - Lean A/F,.... Flashing led - correct A/F ratio

Any input from electrical gurus woudlbe great

You don't really need to re-invent the wheel here, Jaycar have several kits that will do what you want, at various price points:

I like the last one the best.

Thanks craig, i didnt realise they were so cheap

I thought that i could make one for less than $10, but that the 2nd one down is only about $15 i mite even get it.

I see that jaycar also have a duty cycle meter/ output controller, it would be great as a water injection controller or just to see the injector duty
