How do I tell if my seat has airbags in it???
Hi, probably a silly question but I need to find out whether my 2001 Outback limited leather seats have airbags in them or not. Problem is I have the car in storage and cannot access it atm. Does anyone know off the top of their head if these seat would have air bags or not or how can I find out?

The Outback Sedan Limited SUS (in America) had Front seat side impact airbags as an optional extra. http://www.cars101.com/outback2001.html
As for Australia, it is possible that your car could have come with them if it were a top of the range with all added extras outback.
As for finding out, if you have the rego papers google the vin number it may give you the details you need.

From memory the side airbags weren't available in the BE/BH models but the easiest way to tell is look under the front seats and look for the Yellow (with green safety lock clip) plug on the wiring loom that goes to either seat.

Seats with airbags have little tags on the side of the seat.

There will likely be a yellow wire under your seat as it will be for the seatbelt pretensioner.
I have a feeling that the top spec Outback H6 Limited with VDC may have had side airbags as an option as there is section on side airbags in the manual

Funnily enough I ripped a supposedly 01 GT Foz seat apart tonight, these have an oval badge embroidered into the side which you wouldn't miss if you owned one, also these are heated.
I wonder if the bag is worth keeping as they were not in an accident, just grubby????
