I'd love to take it on, the CAN bus wiring loom would be a real challenge. Unfortunately I dont have enough money or space to have another project

I don't see the point. Wayyy to pricey and perhaps abit unreliable?

How does it not work 100%?? I believe these fellas have developed a stand alone programmable ECU and wiring loom. The only issue for engineering would be the DPF delete...B00sting wrote:Would be awesome if it worked 100%.
I would imagine much better for a serious offroad brumby.
It'd be awesome, even in Ruby Scoo

WWWWOOOOOOHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !
Just found out earlier today that the UK outlet for the stand alone for the EE20 is just.........10 miles away from where I live !!!!!
Also have had a tip of where to buy (at sensible money) the donor engine / box / diff / looms from.
hehehehehehe
Just need some dough now - oh and a rust free rolling shell Brumby - if any one has one for sale ?
This is warming up nicely:p

I would say no. A wrx puts out around 300Nm while one of these throws a min of 350Nm. If an L-Series box can't handle a wrx motor then it highly doubt it could handle an EE20.lovey80 wrote:How much different is the EJ gearbox to the EE one? Could an L Series AWD box handle the torque of one of these?
Oh and remember being diesel it rev's much lower, the ratios would be all wrong. Even an EJ box would be all wrong with the ratios.

We have a 6 speed TD forester and at 110km/h the tacho reads just over 2000 rpm. The tacho redline is around 4500rpm and I can guarantee if you have hit the redline you are making some serious horsepower.
Alex had an EJ20t mated to a 5 speed "l" series box and as I understand it the box and engine was sold on to another member after wanky wagon was parted out.
the only gear boxes I wouldn't mate this engine to are the EA 4 speed and the 4 EAT auto box, having said that Im sure you could
the engine would work its best with the 6 speed it came from the factory with, but are you prepared to pay $7600 (from the USMB link) for an engine and gearbox?

yep, i respected that gbox though and was running additives in the oil. Im pretty sure it gave Guy a fair run before dying. Wanky would have been pushing well over 350nm when i had her running 18psi for the majority of the time.TOONGA wrote: Alex had an EJ20t mated to a 5 speed "l" series box and as I understand it the box and engine was sold on to another member after wanky wagon was parted out.
The l-series 5 speed is pretty weak and if i wanted to i could have broken it very easily in my wagon, but as long as you dont bang gears and drive it stupid, theyre okay.
