Batteries (12V car)

Post by Smokey » Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:56 am

A mate of mine has a Skyline R33. I know, I know shame on him should be a Liberty GT wagon w coilovers, 4" lift and BFG AT's on 18" rims....

Any way needs to get a new battery and asked my opinion. Hes got a 750CCA Deep cell Optima. Not sure if its ther red or yellow top. I won't go into the details but its dead.... Not a short either, somewhat natural causes.

What Batteries do u guys use? And what would u recomend for a street car w a big stereo system...

Smokey.

i've allways replaced with a normal size battery..13plate or whatever it is...not the weeny oem size.....others have found a bigger battery to sqeeze in too.

Can you find out how long that Optima battery lasted? so hes havin second thoughts on replacing it with the same?.....
The yellow top should be the one used for deep discharge, ie running all that audio with the engine off...but it is a compromise when it comes to using it as the start battery too....ideal is dual battery.

mine depends. for customers with huge audio - optima yellow top or blue.
myself - standard battery usually the biggest I can fit in the hole.

my vans have a dual setup and the main one is a normal battery the second one is a optima blue isolated via a solenoid.
