Rego costs...car mods... wanna cry ??

Post by steptoe » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:00 am

Assuming reprint permission from Mark T'subaru on rego costs in the west coast of USA

"We bought new tabs last winter for the wagon, about 40.00 as I recall. Every year we have to buy new license plate tabs and get a new registration for the future year the tabs are bought for, just a paper formality and ownership paperwork to show an officer if pulled over..

As far as any vehicle mods the sky is the limit, horsepower, lift, whatever as long as it falls within state laws, you can have too dark of tinted windows and too bright of headlights, stuff like that, and there is laws on the books about bumper heights too, but you rarely see or hear any of them being enforced, i guess if your pulled over and give the officer a bad time you could expect them to find stuff to charge you with"

Sob, sob Here rego including green slip TPI varies $700 to $800 a year for a lightish four cylinder. Wonder if i could apply for rego tags and plates and drive on an international licence :) here ??

Cheap petrol, cheap top quality tools, lot of old turbo subies, houses near the coast buy two for a quarter of a mill ...man, how life is so different yet so much the same in another nation !!!

haha, yes, but this is not entirly true when it comes to new cars and larger citys where the county their located in has emission testing required in order to purchase license plate tabs. They have advanced to the point of having photos of the various models and years factory emission controls. If you mod them or fail the test you cant get tabs ( no tabs no drive) and you cannot mess with the cats either. Other than that is pretty much a free for all here.
