EA81 Piston Ring gap

Post by Matt » Fri Jun 25, 2010 4:39 pm

EA81 Piston Ring gap with 40 thou or 1mm oversize pistons what gap does everyone think, gregories says 0.2 to 0.35 and limit 1.5mm. But what should i set it to? Anything above 0.2mm? It was bloody confusing the way it was written.

Side note i hate ACL!!!! i have 1 stuffed piston 1 stuffed set of rings (ripped the rings spacer thing out on the piston and the 2nd compression ring is in like 10 pieces) and 1 stuffed set of Crankshaft bearings all ACL!!! And all under 12 months old!!!!

Thanks
Matt

those instructins with rings are usually so many thou per inch accross bore, so if it is 10 thou they say and 3.5 inch bore = 3.5 times ten thou

SEARCH, two years ago maybe I put some detail in here, I was unable to get as tight as spec and my engine machine shop said no worry with the bigger gap - and no problems with the bigger gap
