Having heard - a stitch in time,saves nine - I always knew the gist of it but could not explain it fully to a 'new Australian' until an old bloke explained it better as -a stitch, in time, saves nine (more stitches) amazing what a comma can do !
to have ones work cut out for them has always been in the context of one not having an easy task ahead of them - but to me has always sounded that if a tailor has all his patterns cut out for him by someone else I would have thought his task would be easy. Googled an explanation and get that he is likely to be busy as someone is keeping material up to him constantly - like a bricky gang and their labourers? still do nut understand it this way
