SubaXtrememake decent cast aluminium ones, but they're not cheap. Central 4wd Accessories in Welshpool are the WA distributor. The other option is to get a bit of 2-3mm steel or 4-5 mm aluminium checkerplate, put a few bends in it and call it a sump guard.
Dead easy to install, though it can help to have an assistant hold the weight of it while you find the bolt holes.

This is one of the most common things to happen to Foresters, they always come off.
I think the subaru club which is going to lanno this weekend have propper ones forsale possibly. Otherwise there is a place in SA called SubaExtreme that does them. Easy to install.

You're better off with nothing when playing in sand or mud.

Bloody hell - I thought you'd ripped off a metal one! I've managed to push my L series one up into the sump in the cobaw's behind my joint... The sump got a ding out of it too! The guard wasn't hard to reshape which was good.
Best of luck with your guard - if you've got a mate in the sheet metal trade or who has access to a sheet metal folder/bender you'd better get a six pack or two sorted
Cheers
