Keypad Alarms (2001 B4)
Keypad Alarms (2001 B4)
I have just got my car back from my mechanics, battery disconnected for six weeks. Now it will run as long as i dont do anything to set the hi-jack alarm off. The code that it used to be no longer works and i have to do the remove the batter hold down 0# trick to get it to start. Which is not really all that convenient. Does anyone know how to set a new pin. Or what the "default" one is.
Thanks
Thanks

mattims,
When this happens it is a royal pain in tha arse. We at subaru have to call the alarm manufacturers and quote them the vin, eng no, rego, owner, the list goes on. My advice is to go to your nearest dealer and get them to get the master alarm reset code and work from there. This will have to be done in house as the maker has a written agreement with subaru to not let ANY details about these alarms out. Sorry for the news. If you manage to get it done outside the dealership great going. Theres a reason not many of these things get stolen you know.
Cheers al

it's only going to rule out amateurs from stealing it which the basic alarm would probably do anyway. To be perfectly honest if someone stole this car at the moment i would be happy. It has been nothing but trouble, ive spent over $10k now and only just done 20,000 kilometers.
I have got someone at subaru to give me master codes for it now so hopefully i can get it to run. Although i had to spend about 3 hours this morning on the phones to get that far.

allan,
I know what you mean. I'm on the other side of the fence ( I remove/disable a lot of these- NO I WILL NOT TELL ANYONE HOW VIA PM OR OTHER WISE!!)
and when they lock down they do it without warning. dealer is the only (legal) way out of it. they get the master code and punch it in then reset the unit.
I used to fit them for subaru / brant up here.

yeah a guy from an alarm place that fits alot of them for subaru came out in the end as a favour to my mechanic and fixed it. He actually completely disabled it somehow and then realised it was just a dodgy solder making it break and fixed it. I almost wish he had left it disabled .. but insurance might not like that.
