I test drove a new MY09 Impreza

Hi everyone.
I'm looking to replace my Subaru Liberty soon or maybe later so I checked out the Subaru Imprezas and took 2 for test drives. The first was an auto and the second one was a manual.The manual had a terrible action whereas the older Imprezas have super smooth gearboxes.
I noticed that they give a nicer ride than my Liberty MY04 but apart from that they are pretty much the same.
It was a little pricy running at $29,300 from my local dealer in Warwick. That's for a Impreza MY09 R auto. I tried another dealer in Toowoomba and they sell them for $28,100.
What sort of prices have you guys encountered and what are your impressions of the new Impreza?
