slipping clutch questions
hi my l series clutch is slipping under load usually when i reverse up my steep driveway, would the clutch also be affecting the smoothness of my gear changes? or is that mainly due to my gearbox being worn i think i need a new gearbox when i do a engine coversion just want to know how much i am up for.
no more 91 l series, no more liberty sedan , 92 l series this time i will do all the mods i wated to do with my last l series, lift , wheels ,kings, roof basket, snrokel
If your doing an engine conversion you will need a new clutch anyway. If you are planning to keep the same type of gearbox and go the adaptor-plate route then you may aswell just get the new clutch now.
Rough guide - if you go for the usual EJ22 non turbo conversion then get your existing pressure plate custom modified up to around 1700pounds (stock Liberty pressure) and a new friction plate. Should cost roughly $300 for this but depends where you go.
Regarding how smooth your gear changes are, given you have a worn clutch it is likely your flywheel needs skimming. This should only cost about 20 bucks. Again, may aswell do it now with your current engine because if using an adaptor plate for EJ conversion you will still use this same flywheel but with modified holes.

Another thing, there could be oil on the plate, does it slip in forward gears even heavy acceleration?
