Where's the damn fuse?

Post by Battlewagon » Wed Jan 28, 2009 8:18 pm

The cicarette lighter and electric mirrors have just died in my L-tourer. All the fuses in the fuse holder are OK, tested good with multimeter. If I apply power to the lighter socket, the mirrors work again. I'm assuming that there's a fusible link blown somewhere, but where???

AFAIK the only fusible links are next to the battery.
How did you test the fuses? remove from fuse tester and test with ohm range?
My preference is using a test lamp, on the fuses in the fuse holder, test lamp puts a load on the circuit tested, thus is a better tester than a multimeter.

But I would guess you have a broken wire.

it is not always the power side of things to stuff up - check the earths too. Found this in an RX ----7 indicator wire - corroded, driving me mate nuts as to why it did not glow but he had power and used a different earth in his test.
