awd rear diff?????

Post by shuffbag » Sun Nov 23, 2008 9:17 pm

well as many others i would really like a lsd in the rear of my car, but having awd im really unsure on the welding (temp solution) and droping a shaft for road use.
would this be something that could end in a big bang? are there other solutions?

i have read bits and pieces about a straight r180 swap (maybe easyer to find lsd) using the outer cups?stub's? form the r160 so you can retain the standard shafts?
there are alot of ???'s because i haven't pulled a r160 apart befor and are unsure on combatability between the two diffs.

any thoughts on the matter would help.

running a locker with awd is no worries at all. As long as you remove shaft when youre on the road.

brennyv has been running a locker in his awd liberty for ages now.

No do not do it.

you can burn out your Centre LSD

BrennyV can do it only because his Center is also locked.

I possibly wld agree it wld blow up the centre diff which i think it did to mine abt 2years ago. You're better off getting LSD, unless you're off road full time.

does any one know/done the r180 swap using the r160 sides.

i hear its a straight swap and simple to do, but in till i guess someone a little smarter gives a bit of advise my diff will stay as is.
