G'day,
I am seeking some technical info on the operation of the auto choke unloader on my EA82 motor (1990 L series 4WD wagon). The choke operates fine, unloads partially via the vacuum diaphram at idle after starting, but does not appear to open at full throttle until warm. Consequently the motor is severely "over-choked" and won't accelerate cold, but idles OK.
Does the throttle mechanically unload the choke at full throttle? There could be missing bits, as the choke fast idle link screw & spring were missing. The choke heater is intact and working, but I have not yet found a clear, detailed, exploded view of the carb - Hitachi DCZ-328, nor a detailed description of the choke operation to check against.
Any carb experts out there able to shed some light on the problem?
Thanks,
DG

Hey DG,
Welcome to the forum!
The choke "unloader" should allow the carbie to have the choke fully open with hard throttle. It may start to open up at half throttle, i'm not sure, but it should def be wide open when your foot's flat to the floor...
I don't have an exploded view but I'm sure someone will
Cheers
