2 way valve in fuel tank breather line

Post by soobs_rule_m8 » Wed Jun 21, 2006 1:07 pm

Anyone know where the 2 way valve between the fuel tank and the carbon cannister (L series) in the breather line is actually located? I think I finally found my problem.
After trying all the other stuff (blowing out fuel lines, adjusting float level, new coil etc, etc, etc) I have found my car running like a treat if I leave the fuel cap off. It seems I get too much vacuum in the tank when I stick my foot down, starving the carb of fuel. One mechanic suggested drilling a hole in the cap, however in the manual it shows a 2 way valve in line. Where is it?

i think its somewhere underneath near the fuel tank?

Are you sure you have the fuel return and vapour return lines the right way?
easy to get them swapped incorrectly.........

I'll doube check, but am sure they are. Car running awesome at the moment with fuel supplier change. Just gotta sort this breather out now.
Maybe I'll just swap them over and give it a try?

pm subarino or search for his thread from a while ago. He drew a diagram of how the breather system works, he had the opposite problem in his car (too much pressure in fuel tank) and managed to fix it by install the carbon canister correctly.
