I've found the longer you leave ice in the freezer the better, I used to stick ice cream containers in the freezer a week or 2 before Easter and would get 4 days with the esky in the shade but leaving the ice in the tubs, I wonder if salt in the water would help keep it longer, that was in a standard plastic esky too.

Maybe throwing your sleeping bag over it during the day like a sock might help too.

I decided to go with a 25L Rotomold icebox from Getaway Outdoors for $80.
It was the perfect size, only about 29 cm wide,
short enough to fit flat on the floor behind the passenger seat,
and a smidgen tall but not too tall to fit under the rear backrest, backrest folded over.

The manager there reckoned the 14L coolers would not keep stuff frozen very long without power,
yet their iceboxes even at 25L would be nearly-magical, lol:
told me how they use that size for bait and the bait actually turns solid being in contact with ice
and stays that way for 2-3 days.

atleast you went to Getaway Outdoors :)
i work at the malaga store.
Good luck with your 25l cooler,
the 14L electric coolers are fairly useless, good in winter, thats about it...
