You obviously weren't running in any production class because they only allow L boxes meaning the AWD one or the part time one - no guesses how the teams ran the part time one - ok in 4WD and the (not so low) low range .
It may surprise you to know that the real secret to getting a conventional transmissioned Rex to work on the dirt was to run low pre load settings in the front plate LSD , open fronts just go light on the front inner which spins meaning no steerage or drive .
Maybe what you should have tried was left foot braking making the rear go light and getting the tail out .
If you want to see something really demented have a look at Walter Rohl and others going ballistic in the old Group B Audi Quatros - they were significant because they had a long heavy in line 5 a long way forward in the car so were a bit of an understeering lead tipped arrow . Those cars were a real animal with a highly strung 500 on tap and an agricultural driveline by modern stds (last 10-12 yrs) . The Quatro Sport even more wild with a shorter wheel base and more power .
It took a smaller lighter Peugeot 205-T16 with a mid mounted engine (after they turned it around so it could jump/leap predictably) to beat it .
A .
EJ AWD with locked rear diff..?
I wasn't in a class, some people just do that stuff for fun mate.
Getting a bit far offtopic...
Anyone else with experience of having a locker rear in an EJ AWD car here?
