Stretch boots are overrated.

seriously its no that much more work to take the outer CV off in most cases and allows it to be greased easier i reckon.

Yes mate I know, Just showing the photos to show what it looked like. I've got one to pull apart in the next few days and suspect that I will get down and get dirty.

Can't wait.??:(

I tend to think for the work involved in removing front shafts cheap nasty boots are a bad idea , better than nothing if your struggling to feed yourself .

I haven't priced genuine boot kits but if I wanted something to last long time periods I'd buy factory or Jap aftermarket .
Cheap boots use material that splits and tears easily where good ones are much more flexible pliable and stay together longer .

If I was off roading in water/dust/mud/sand I'd get the best I could afford because the "free" grinding paste mix of crud and grease will destroy your joints .

my expandable cv boot tool is scarier!!!! I will get some pics this week.

Mine is a pneumatic tool with a whole lot of fingers, you put the dry cv boot on, and it expands it, you slide over, let the tension go, slide the boot off, then pull the tool off... very scary looking tool.

I personally think that expandable cv boots aren't that great in a lot of applications, I'd rather pull the shaft out, unless its really really time consuming or hard to do. (doesn't happen that often)

I'm not too sure I like the look/feel/quality of the stretchy boots, the ones we have are a universal fitment, and I've never been keen on that. Maybe if you can get specific boots for your vehicle that are stretchy it would be better.

I will be looking at putting some new boots on within the next month or so, or sooner if going away on a trip or finally going 4wding (hasn't happened yet).

Robert.
