Rear wheel drive Brumby

Hey guys, may be a silly question, but is it possible to lock the 4wd mechanism on the brumby and take out the CV joints to make it RWD??

If so, what are the pros and cons. I'll be honest here, all i basically want is oversteer :Dwith minimal/reversible mods. Can't give it the old scandinavian flick because all i get is understeer and in 4wd its next to impossible to get the thing to let go.

Hi Pete - mine is set up that way now with an EA82T& running 5speed box. I am putting in an LSD - it is a nightmare to drive in wet as is, even cornering in dry it is a handful . Hope this helps.....jim

lol does it just slide out? and how did you take out the CV joints and lock the 4WD mechanism??

Just select 4WD & take out linkages to gearbox (or you have a choice of RWD or 0WD) & take out front drive shafts.
Its not ideal really - needs LSD , but far better to have AWD - especially if using EA82T or EJ22 etc.

I'd be wary of this move - I've heard that the transfer gears to the rear of the car can burn out if not looked after. It would be fun to do this for a little bit.

Probabily the best thing you can do is set it up similar to Brumbyrunner's drivetrain in his race unit, 4wd oversteer is so much more fun than 2wd - and a completely different kettle of fish.
