Ea82 -> Ea82t

Post by Xtreme_RX » Fri May 23, 2008 8:49 pm

Does anybody have the wiring diagrams for a 4 plug MPFI Aust delivered Leone? And the wiring diagrams for the MPFI 4 Plug turbo?

I am lead to believe that the ECU is virtually the same between the two models just a 'solder join' told the ECU if it was turbo / non turbo. Can anybody confirm / deny this?

What are the differences between the two harnesses besides the waste gate solenoid?

Thanks in advance...

The MPFI and MPFI Turbo 4 plug systems are almost identical.

The real only difference is the WGDS (wastegate duty solenoid) and the knock sensor.

You can run a turbo with the NA ecu, but i wouldnt recommend it, the ignition map is different (too much advance for boost) and the knock sensing part of the turbo ecu is rather important.
There is no link/switch to differentiate between the NA or Turbo ECU, its either a NA ecu, or a Turbo ECU.

If you cant find a 4 plug turbo motor, you can use all the electrical parts off the MPFI 4 plug and put them on the 3 plug turbo motor.
You will find more info in the link at the bottom of my sig.

Last year, i put a 4 plug vortex turbo motor (Fury's old motor) along with the wiring harness from an MPFI Touring wagon into my DL
All the plugs matched up and the turbo motor runs fine off the touring wagon MPFI loom with the turbo ecu.

Any questions? Dont hesitate to ask

Hmmm interesting........

Seems to run fine on the N/A ECU.......

Yeah i know,.. the fuelling part of either ECU probably the same, (Air metered x RPM = Fuel Injected) but the turbo ECU has fuel enrichment and ignition retard for on boost, plus it has the very important Knock Sensor.

I ran mine on a N/A ECU for a while till i found a 4 plug Turbo ECU, but was very careful and listened like a hawk for ping and always put 98prem in it.

It ran fine, and probably do so for many years, but i would rather run a turbo ECU just for the piece of mind.

I'm running E10 91 RON @20deg BTDC & i haven't herd it it pinging yet.
I the higher timing advance on boost is ok on this setup i have..
A knock sensor would be handy though.....

Doesn't go as hard as my 'L' wagon did but it was running 16PSI with an after market ECU & water to air IC. Thats probably the wrong car to compare it too....

Yeah, that would be my guess too :D

I've always wondered about turboing my MPFI EA82 but currently I'm over those engines and the last one I'll put back together for my car will be the one that gets pulled out in favour of an EJ...

Good luck with the turbo, they sound like fun cars - I've just never had the money for the bits to get one together and now, as mentioned, am not one to favour the EA82 box cam design...

Cheers

Old thread dig up.

Can anyone confirm the discussion above?
I've managed to get hold of a late model "spider" manifold EA82T, and currently have a late model NA EFI loom in my car. I can also get hold of a late model 4 plug ECU.

I'm hoping that I can combine all of this lot together.

Thanks

No, but I've got an EJ now - there's an update!

Other than that I have yet to touch a turbo'd engine...
