Trusted Mechanic Needed

Post by Brett in BrisVegas » Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:24 pm

Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help me out with a recommendation of a trusted mechanic for services on my 2002 Outback, I get every period service without fail and get the service history book filled out and stamped, but I have recently moved up from Melbourne to Brisbane, so not knowing anyone up here I have been using Subaru service centres and boy do they stick it to ya!
Any suggestions for someone close to the Brisbane CBD would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks heaps for the quick reply.
I have been reading posts on this forum and on the Qld Subaru club forum and seen Scorpion mentioned quite a few times, so was thinking if no one replied he would be the go!
I live in Spring Hill/Fortitude Valley so was hoping for someone closer, but your right, the peace of mind is well worth the drive!!
Cheers

If you want to stay on the North side, then I get my Forester serviced at Boxer Services Brendale, 20 mins from Spring Hill according to "Whereis" :D

Subi Evolution are also in Brendale http://www.gtrydaz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=70

My Outback gets serviced by Michael Collins at Scorpion - always found the service great. Workshop has three hoists and Subaru's are their staple business.

Courtesy car is available as well, just let Michael know if you need a set of wheels while yours is in the workshop.

I also go to Boxer Service (just getting in could be an issue).

Personally i have never had any hassles with Michael at Scorpion.

There also used to be John French (in Dutton Park).

Or the dealers (although dealers are $$$), Alternatively depending on what you after the Subaru Qld club and/or BYB boys will more often be willing to swing spanners with you.
Good luck with it.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

A big thanks to all for the info and recommendations, it is very much appreciated guys.
I am thinking about joining up with the club too, sounds like great fun and good people, and I'm sure I will get more out of my car and the countryside tagging along with the "experts"
Once again thanks to all who replied.:D

An update on John French - they're on Balaclava Street, Woolloongabba. Col's the man. Found them decent and very honest, though don't know how rates compare elsewhere with other specialists. Certainly far better than dealers. Closer to city location something else to weigh.
