Post by Alex » Mon Oct 29, 2007 6:08 pm

hi all,

just wondering, because my ps rack is leaking a fair bit of ps fluid onto the headers and smoking quite bad. Can this catch fire?

Any oil will burn, fix it quickly, or avoid driving it 'till you do, or it may be too late.

it'll burn it off but wont ignite, happened to me once and it filled up spark plug hole and wasn't firing properly.... yeah get it fixed asap because one day you wont have any power steering at all as it'll leak after you try to fill it up.
Cheers

Alex not sure if you were there that day... but i burst a power steering hose in my car when i was doing donuts at 90 achres... no fire... LOTS of heat and PS oil though.

I would agree... smoke a lot but not actually ignite. Im surprised you boys aint tryed to ignite it already just to see what happens.

I seem to remember chucking some PS fluid in that bonfire a few months back, can't remember what happened tho. All I know is the grass still won't grow in that little area...

Engine oil on the headers will ignite (ask me how I know) - can't see any reason why power steering oil would be any different.
