bonnet scoop

Post by vortex_06 » Mon Oct 15, 2007 3:57 pm

Hi i have a question that someone here may be able to help me with.We bought a wrx scoop and vents for our 2000 gx impreza. We have taken it to a reputable fella but he says that it wont fit, something to do with the bonnet? Now is this because it came of a wrx and mine is a gx?Could it be made to fit and would it be worth it?
Thanks for your help!

Why do you want to put it on there? the reason that it may not go on is because of the support ribbing under the bonnet is in the way , if you are intent on fitting it and have it look right you could allways get a wrx bonnet

Sorry not a bigfan of that sort off thing if it will not serve a real purpose though.

buy the time he lines them up, cuts them in (even just thinking about the job is off putting...) and paints the bonnet inside and out, it would owe you $400 absolute min.

This is before he matches/blends in the guards. I you have a base imprezza and want to toughen the look, spend you hard earned $$$ on the skirts...ie bring up to an RX spec - will look nice, even on white cars - no offense towards white subarus intended - i've owned many myself!

Or suggest you buy a WRX bonnet, may even be lucky to find the same paint code!!

And anything will fit...like the old saying goes: 'Horespower (or SPL) = $$$...how much do you want to spend?'

Anything is possible, even on a budget. rtcb65 on here wanted to try a WRX scoop on his MY wagon to see how much difference cooler air forced into the air cleaner would make to performance on an EA81, and he's happy with the results we've achieved so far... Cost bugger all for me to custom make everything too...

Wrx scoop’s are piss easy to install especially pre gc8 style scoops but even gd style scoops are not hard. Our shop fits at least 1 a week on many cars!! Gc8 Vents are harder as they are designed for the pressed out bonnet holes to allow them to sit flush. but u can get away with fitting gf8 style vets as they are slightly different and easy to modify to suit a stock bonnet without press outs...

agreed...but there is a difference walking in off the street asking a panel shop to fit second hand items where the color does not match. Autobarn make a cheapie for $25 that requires only four nuts, a jigsaw and a colour match...much simpler
