Yeah probably is worth getting it done... really shouldnt have to put more pressure than you already have on it - wouldn't want to sheer the thing off!

Your not wrong. Just looking at getting it there.
I have to say that this rases serious issues about having the bike as the second mode of transport... might have to buy another Subaru.

I recall using a pipe on the socket spanner longer than 1m/its maybe nearly 2m, and whilst engine still mounted in engine bay, jammed in gear.
So still not nearly enough force applied yet, and I think steady force is the way, not the FBH.
Oh if its mounted, you got the starter motor option I heard about.......

Yeah I've had that too. Twice.

Do it back up tight! Not too tight though! :D

Yeah, saw a popular subaru mechanic in Vic use that trick, and I've always removed the pulley bolt that way ever since. The engine needs to be in the car though, but might be a last resort once the engine has gone in if it still hasn't budged by then. Would be nice though to have the belts done before the engine goes in, much easier to work on!

The donk IS back therefore I will be swinging spanner again – only this time in the other direction :P

Those that wana get there hand dirty or just sit back and give direction, and await the refiring you know where I live.

Note i have not done tie rod/control arm cv as the donk is the priority... once she has been refired, and oil service/change we'll see - although i will be keen to see what she can do

Jaffa I'm not exactly sure on what I'm doing this weekend, but I will be in touch.

Here is the latest. Thanks to Aspro who drop into my place and help drop the engine into the bay. I then reconnected everything, including the earth to the alternator :?

Anyway once we (Tim and AndrewT) discovered this and the smoke had cleared the bugger of a thing just would not fire :? Adjusting the dizzy made a difference however not enough to actually fully kick it over, she got close but would not crank.

I am thinking a bigger battery (I know that this will not have a direct effect) and a shot of airo-start stuff in the plenum? Any other suggestions?

A friend of mine dropped a EA82T in his car that had been un-used for a long time and it didn't want to fire up either. It appeared with his the tappets had drained down over time and weren't actually lifting the valves until after a fair amount of cranking and getting some oil pressure up to them.

Thanks I will give it another few more shots when i get a chance.

A new battery and more cranking and still she does not want to fire :?

I have tried swapping the fuel lines, just on the off chance they were on the wrong way but they were not.

I HATE CARS!!!!!!! 8O

Well the Jaffa mobile is back… well kinda. It would appear that the timing was out, so now I have to figure out how to play this (if you recall I had a so called Subaru mechanic do this 1 for me… looks like I have found another person in WA that knows FA about the flat 4).

Anyway for the mo she is running however I have not been hard on it yet for the follow reasons…
1) I have been in the city (not that that stopped me in the past).
2) The clutch requires MAJOR adjustment.
3) I just want to run everything in and dbl cheek the fluid levels (and atm they are at home not in the car).

What I have notices is that getting it off the line and boost seem different so I will have to keen an eye on that. I have stayed at work a little longer to try and avoid some of the pear hour crap and see if I can get a bit of a run in her.

Thanks to all those that offered their time, advice and support… the 1st phase has finished.

She needs some MAJOR fine tunning... and i am not sure if i have the skills :? She is doing little things like running hot. This could be as the turbo seems to spool up however I think that I may have a leaking waste gate or something as she does not force feed anything. I addition to this it also has a funny flat spot in the rev range. I am sure that these are all minor issues just going to take some time or a mechanic to look at it
Once she is 100% and the crew are close to being functional again we’ll be on 4 SURE.
