'96 liberty seats in brumby?

Post by tommo » Thu Jun 28, 2007 5:03 pm

Can anyone tell me if the front seats out of a '96 liberty wagon would fit in a brumby without any serious welding?
I don't mind grinding or drilling new holes but I'm no welder.
Just found some really nice ones at the wreckers this arvo, thought I'd see if anyone knows before i go ripping them out.
$150 they quoted me, sounds a bit much i think...
Thanks,
Tommo.

Nope, isn't easy to do, especially without a welder. I mounted a WRX seat in mine, but it had to lift up a bit to fit in, and then was way too high.
'91 brumby, EJ-Turbo with VOSChip, 2" lift, 15" superlites, Dual Range AWD.

'93 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 auto, automatic seatbelts, LHD.

Well I've just about finished putting the driver's seat in. It was a lot easier than i was imagining. Just took the whole rails off the old seat, drilled a few new holes and bolted them to the new seat.
So one side lined up with the holes in the car, now i just have to drill and tap some holes for the other side and she's done.
I did have to take the bottom door trim off though as the seat is 40mm wider, so it will have to be modified before it'll go back in.
I'll post up some pictures tomorrow when I finish.

Did you just drill and tap into the floor? I thought the original mounting holes were beefed up with some kind of captive nut or at least a much thicker section of steel... ?
