Ignition timing 82T
Ignition timing 82T
Just got a timing light. What should I set my ignition timing to on my 82T? I think I read on the bonnet sticker 20 deg for turbo at 750rpm. Since my engine refuses to idle any lower than about 1100 would this matter? I always run 95 or if unavailable 98 octane. Also its got bosch plugs - should I stick to these or go NGK?
thanks, timmo

Timmo - ignition timing set to 20 btdc. The idling issue -> refer to factory manual if you can, check out the tech manual, i think two parts were just linked a week or so ago. There's a little screw at the back of the throttle butterfly with some solinoid beside it, apparently this is the idle adjustment screw and it works off the vacuum or something. I read it quickly but it was from the tech section. Might help solve your idle problem.
Plugs, dunno for a turbo, but i think your gap should be about 1.1mm for a turbo...
Hope this info helps.
Cheers

My 2c...
I have forgotten about my bonnet sticker and am running 18 deg + @750 and ONLY running high octain fuel (98 stuff).
Plugs are NGK BP6ES-11, at about 1.1 mm gap (i get a bit complacent with this sometimes)
And with an idel that high i would be thinging vac leak or O2 sensor maybe?

Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).

RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

the one that crumbled on mine goes from the air valve to the the throttle body intake manifold thingo kinda behind the power steer pump. It was obviously sucking in air that it shouldnt have been making the car idle higher. I just used a bit of hose i had laying aroound.
