Spark Plugs for EA82T RX .

Post by discopotato03 » Sun Apr 08, 2007 6:39 pm

Hi all , recently I bought an RX Turbo and it ran a little rough so I changed the plugs leads and dizzy cap . A friend of mine found the complete L Series Workshop Manual PDF at the Ultimate Subaru Message Board , it said these engines (EA82T) use resistor spark plugs which the car didn't have . The previous owner gave me a set of NGK BP6ES-11 (1.1mm gap) plugs which I fitted before I found out it needed (in NGK) BPR6ES-11 plugs . ATM I can't lay my hands on them because nothings open (easter) but soon ...

Has anyone been down this road with non resistor plugs and had the rough running .

Will be changed soon Cheers A .

Nope i use the NGK's.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

SWK do you find a huge price differance in thises plugs? Do you replace them every service? I have though about this as an option however the NGK's seem to work fine (and I have been working on the if she ain’t broke… theroy).

I would be interested in knowing a little more about your experiences with these plugs.

Nah i was taking them out every 5kkms to check them out but havent bothered of late the box says good for 100000kms so ill check em when 50000kms rolls around. Engine is running 16psi boost and gets the oil changed every 5000kms the plugs still look like they have just been put in there. When running std plugs i had to replace them about every 10000 as they where pretty shagged by then.

i use the ngk plugs with a .9 gap because i had detonation issues under load, this fixed the problem... also the detonation was only at night when it was cooler and because of installing an inter cooler...
