complety screwed my 4wd.
hey guys
i hope u can help me out here.
i took my wagon onto a grassy patch. and i was whipping nuts (in high range 4wd) then i think i may have hit a bank on my front wheel or something and it completly screwed up my 4wding. but when i put it into front wheel it was all fine.
now heres the problem with it.
when i turn my car in a clockwise circle the front left wheel makes a wierd noise and does wierd stuff and the back right wheel kinda jumps and hops around the corner.
what the hell is wrong with it!!!1 im scared its gonna be tottally stuffed. and i find it hard to beleive 4wd can screw up in my car as it has like never been offroad.
anyway any help will be much appreciated!!
thanks
Sean

Yeah I agree. You may not have noticed this characteristic when driving on grass. An L series will do this when in 4x4 mode on a road - it's because the gearbox is locked in the centre giving equal drive to front and rear. When driving in a circle some wheels will want to spin at different speeds to others but cannot because of the locked centre, so you get wheel-crab when they skid and slip slightly.
Liberties, WRX's etc don't have this problem because they have LSD centres in their constant 4x4 gearboxes.
Have a read of the little factory manual if it's still in your glove box.

Even though it sound like the 4WD selector has not disengaged (you are still in 4WD Hi) Does it do it when you turn left? How small a circle are we talking? Can you do a u turn or reverse 45 degree angle park? If so then its not your diff/gear box binding up, its another problem.
Let us know a little more, we’ll see if we can come up with a diagnosis.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

I had a problem getting my car out of 4wd when I first got it, I found it easy to dissengage when on a loose surface still but had a lot of problems when on a paved road. Ive also read on here that bagging it a little in a straight line on a loose surface also helps it it's stuck.
Also whats whipping nuts? sounds painful
