L Series camber adjustment
L Series camber adjustment
I have been having trouble with wearing on the outsied edge of the LH front tyre on my L series. I had suspected camber problems, but I confimed this recently while driving behind the car (while my son was driving it). On the RH side the front and rear wheels were at about the same angle to the road. On the LH side the front wheel is tucked in at the bottom by 20 or 25mm. I can't find any thing bent or worn. The front cross member looked like it may have been bolted on such that it was closer to one side of the vehicle than the other, so I repositioned it to push the lower end of the suspension strut, on the LH side, out as far as possible. This has made a minor improvement, but has not removed the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any suggestions as to how to fix it?
Are there camber kits available for the L series and if so are they hard to fit or expensive?
Any help would be appreciated.

Kmac do one. Check them out at http://www.kmac.com.au. They are a good kit, however they have to be welded onto the engine crossmember. They are worth around $120 when i brought mine a while ago plus fitting. However i would maybe look at the control arm bushes as one might be stuffed?

It's possible the actual strut is bent. This can happen from hitting a curb too hard. Sometimes it can be pretty hard to pick by looking. You really would have to take the strut out and lay it next to another one.

I am having a similar problem but mine is because the whole passenger side front wheel is lower to the ground by approx 15-20mm. Its quite noticeable to me and to others if I mention it. I cannot find whats bent or moved either, but do not have the money to get it all sorted yet. Mine was probably dammed in some way when I took a big hit to that wheel and riped out the lift blocks hehehehhe
I tried here http://www.k-mac.com.au but can't find those kits.
