CV Shaft's conversion question's

Post by 85wrx » Tue Oct 31, 2006 6:38 pm

Hi all,
I am about to do a Impreza 5 stud conversion into MY 5 speed Coupe. I have a question about the front CV shaft's. With the standard MY inner CV and axle will this connect into the impreza outer CV joint? Hopefully someone has completed this before and maybe able to help. I have set the weekend to complete the conversion to be able to drive the car on Monday.

The other question is when I put the EJ and 5 speed AWD Impreza box in will the Impreza inner CV joint for the AWD box connect straight up to the standard axle?

All answers will be apreciated.

From memory 2WD axles should have 22 spline outers, making them compatible with a 4wd (I think?) Liberty outer CV joint, this in turn can go into the Impreza hub.

The inner joint of the MY won't go straight onto an EJ gearbox, you can either replace the inner cups with EJ ones (and use the MY guts) or swap the gearbox stubs with L series ones.

Hope some of that made sense.

Do the front Impreza and front Liberty 4wd CV joints have the same no. of teeth on the spline for the outer.
