L series clock help (RX turbo)
Clock in the middle of my dash has stopped working (86 RX turbo)
Can anyone tell me how to remove the clock? Hopefully it's not a "dash out" problem

should be able to pop it out. just clips in on the sides from what i remember, and its just a unplug and re plug and ya done make sure you do it slowly tho, sundamage will make it very brittle and easy to brake.

yeh they just pop out....mine crapped itself too, one of the resistors gets extremely hot, and the colours have burnt off, so i dont know what resistance it is!

hey for all you guys out there with l's and stuff clock if you have a soldering iron they are esay fix, for some reason son of the solder on the capacitors go dry and the clock display will fade in and out, pull the cold out oull it apart and re solder the joints and it should work again, dit this to a few i had and they worked ever since....

I haven't removed mine yet, but if there are any electrolytic capacitors on the board, try replacing them too. They are notorious for drying out.

Clock fix
This resistor is in the supply (probably for a Zener diode) and gets hot.
Eventually leads to solder failure.
Resoldered and is now perfect....

I have a high res version of the pic but can't read the exact ohm value written on the pcb. It's definately 2 Watt, and has 820J stamped on the resistor (820 ohm???). You could try a 1K 2W or maybe someone has a clock laying around the garage that they read the value from?
