L Series Speedometer Issue

Post by Fang » Sat Sep 23, 2006 2:48 pm

Before my recent gearbox change, I noticed my speedometer was intermittently reading very high (ie 60kph = 180kph  )

However even after the new box the same problem occurs. I have a 2" lift with a standard speedometer cable - could this be the problem? The odometer appears to read fine.

I don't fancy taking that damned dash out again (I hate those vac hoses for vent control!)

It could be the cable if it hasnt broken but has twisted and made itself longer the cable will be pushing the inner drum against the outer drum on the speedo making it read odd amounts
