If your reverse lamps are not working u may have knocked the plug off the gearbox or have a faulty switch on the gearbox, double check fuses also. A build up of dirt on the gearbox plug may not help. Firstly i recommend working the vehicle in and out of reverse - ignition on (have some one stand behind the car watching lights) - the switch on the gearbox may be that worn it has minimal effect. Secondly wiggle the gearbox switch plug - incase of rust/dirt on plug (have some one watching the lights). Thirdly test ignition power to the gearbox plug. If your car is manual the above checks should help. If yours is auto the switch maybe inconjuction with the neutral start switch. Should not be too hard to solve.

if its an auto the lights are switched through the shifter, that means that the console has to come out to access it.
